The Position:

Reporting to the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating instructional, student support, and professional development programs designed to ensure student success. The Dean works closely with the Vice President of Instruction, the Vice President of Student Services, faculty, and staff to deliver integrated instructional programs, including Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance. The Dean serves as the Athletic Director for the college athletic program and is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating a holistic athletic program geared toward student recruitment, retention, success, and transfer in compliance with the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Constitution and Bylaws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, plan, coordinate, direct, evaluate, and support the activities of the Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance programs
• Attend all athletic games/events/competitions hosted by the college and act as the game administrator; serve as a liaison and college representative with the CCCAA and conference organizations related to athletics; conduct student-athlete eligibility and compliance meetings for each intercollegiate team; submit and monitor all conference, state, and district required compliance and eligibility information for each student-athlete; and interface with the community in matters of community relations and affairs associated with the Skyline College athletic program
• Perform in-service training for all athletics faculty and staff on the CCCAA Constitution and Bylaws; NCAA and NAIA transfer requirements and SB 206, Name, Image and Likeness (NIL)
• Work in collaboration with the Office of Planning, Research, and Institutional Effectiveness to compile the data necessary to develop, write and submit all required documentation for Title IX compliance, such as but not limited to, the annual Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA), CCCAA Gender Equity Form R-4 and all other conference, state and federal reports
• Work with faculty and staff to ensure that the Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance programs and all support services meet requirements for all college planning and evaluation activities, including but not limited to program review, accreditation, resource allocation, and student learning outcomes and assessment
• Supervise, schedule, evaluate, and coordinate the use of Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance facilities; manage the student, community, and rental use of all Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance facilities consistent with Board Policy, Administrative Procedure, and campus processes including the completion and submission of contracts; and oversee the ongoing maintenance, repair, and sustainability of all Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance facilities
• Provide leadership in addressing accreditation standards and college initiatives
• Participate collaboratively in strategic planning, enrollment management, and policy development
• Develop on both a short- and long-term basis given available resources and in alignment with other district programs, a division staffing plan that meets division needs and is consistent with the college mission, vision, and values.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possession of a Master’s or above or Doctoral degree from an accredited institution OR the equivalent
• Five years of formal training, internship, or leadership experience related to the administrative assignment
• Experience in budget development and management
• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
• Teaching experience and a minimum of one year experience as an administrator in a post-secondary instructional or related field
