The Dean of Student Services is responsible for providing administrative leadership in overseeing the successful coordination of Outreach & Recruitment, Dual Enrollment, FYE/College Promise; and serves as the LACC K-12 and Community Liaison.  Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Student Services directs the planning, organizing, expanding, and implementing of successful Dual Enrollment program, high school articulation, First-Year student recruitment and retention, family and community engagement, and outreach and recruitment strategies and services for Los Angeles City College.  The Dean also contributes to campus advertising, branding, and promotional efforts to engage LACC students, prospective students, and the community. The Dean will functionally report to the VP of Student Services.

The Dean is also responsible for ensuring that programs and services under their supervision meets the needs of a diverse student population, promotes equitable outcomes, complies with all state and federal regulations, complies with the budget goals of the college and the district, and promotes the mission of the college and district.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Supervise and oversee development and planning for Student Recruitment within our service area including at all high schools, adult schools, college fairs, resource fairs, economic development organizations, and non-profits within our community.

·       Supervise, provide leadership for, train, and evaluate all employees within the Outreach & Recruitment, Dual Enrollment, FYE/College Promise, Trio Upward Bound.

·       Plans, implements, and monitors complex budgets and expenditures. Prepares and submits required college, district, state and federal budget reports for all programs and departments in portfolio including Outreach & Recruitment, Dual Enrollment, FYE/College Promise,

·       Oversee the Dual Enrollment program at offsite locations.

·       Serve as the High School Administrator for Dual Enrollment articulation and alignment efforts.

·       Lead LACC K-12 programs and partnership efforts.

·       Develop relationships with all student services departments, academic affairs, adult education, and career technical departments/units.

·       In collaboration with Department Chairs and other academic faculty, plan course offerings that can lead to certificates, degrees, and transfer pathways for the Dual Enrollment program.

·       Provide faculty with Dual Enrollment program orientation, guidelines, curriculum course outline, and syllabi.

·       Provide guidance to LACC faculty teaching courses in the Dual Enrollment Program.

·       Facilitate meetings between the college administration/faculty and high school administration/faculty.

·       Work evenings and weekends; attending special events when scheduled.

·       Promote instructional exchanges, course/curriculum review, career pathways, and/or articulation agreements.

·       Assist with the promotion and success of the dual enrollment program.

·       Conduct the assessment of Programs Reviews and Student Learning Outcomes for the unit.

·       Develop strategic recruitment plans for high school graduates and adult learners.

·       Participate in community-based activities, advisory committees, and other collaborative endeavors as determined by action plans.

·       Collaborate with local school districts to work in partnership with Parent Engagement programs.

·       Monitor and evaluate the success of advertising, outreach, and recruitment strategies in conjunction with the Vice President of Student Services.

·       Promote programs to serve the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disabled, and ethnic backgrounds of the community college student.

·       Serve college committees as assigned.
