Description

Glendale Community College seeks a leader who is dedicated to all aspects of student success and closing equity gaps, to apply for its Interim Associate Dean, Student Services. Definition

Under executive direction, plans, manages, and implements assigned student service operations, programs, and activities related to Non-Credit Student Services, Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) and CalWORKs; directs and oversees the determination of student eligibility for program admission; develops and coordinates program outreach efforts; reviews grant opportunities to determine their feasibility and applicability to student services programs; administers contracts with state agencies and ensures necessary services are provided for students receiving education benefits; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision

Works under the direct supervision of the Vice President, Student Services.

Supervises faculty, classified staff, temporary employees, and/or student employees.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed by incumbents in this classification.

• Plans, manages, and implements assigned student service operations, programs, and activities related to Non-Credit Student Services, Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), including Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE), Foster Youth Support Program (FYSP)NextUp and CalWORKs.

• Directs and oversees the determination of student eligibility for program admission in accordance with State requirements and District policies; determines eligibility in complex or unusual cases.

• Develops and coordinates program outreach efforts both internally and externally; utilizes various communication tools and methods to inform or train students, faculty, counselors, and the public about program services, opportunities, and requirements; collaborates with community organizations to promote campus offerings, identify other local resources and services, and coordinate community involvement.

• Reviews grant opportunities to determine their feasibility and applicability to student services programs; determines which grants the department will pursue to enhance and expand programs services for students; submits applications as directed; supervises grant accounting and reporting; ensures that grant guidelines are adhered to, and grant outcomes are being met.

• Administers contracts with state agencies and ensures necessary services are provided for students receiving education benefits; monitors student services contracts to ensure contractual services are being provided, contracts are renewed and organizes the request for proposal (RFP) process for additional contractual services.?

• Manages the tracking and reporting of program assessments and student education plans.

• Handles and resolves conflicts and issues and reports complaints as appropriate.

• Promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural competency, and a positive work and academic environment.

• Oversees the development, implementation, and establishment of program policies, processes, and procedures; monitors and evaluates operational and program success and quality; recommends, develops, and implements quality improvement program assessment tools and/or methods with administration and/or regulatory agencies.

• Directs and/or conducts surveys and special studies; maintains program statistics.

• Oversees the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategies and plans.

• Develops, recommends, monitors, and/or administers budgets for assigned areas which may include grant and special program budgets; oversees and administers budget allocations and procurements for all assigned funds as appropriate; analyzes and reviews budgetary and financial data.

• Coordinates and supervises the implementation and modification of technology.

• Supervises department employees; assigns and monitors employee’s work and evaluates employee performance; trains employees; participates in employee selection.

• Monitors and reviews programs and/or operations for legal compliance.

• Analyzes and interprets data; prepares, reviews, and/or approves documents and reports.

• May participate and/or chair campus committees and task forces.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The education, training, and experience qualifications are considered likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the above essential duties.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Seven (7) years of student services program experience, including two (2) years managing student services program/s.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS:

Additional Information

Salary

Starting salary: Step 1 $9,715 to Step 6 $12,397 per month, based on training and experience.

Salary range: Step 1 $9,715 to Step 11 $15,207 per month (including longevity steps).
