Salary Placement:
This twelve (12) month per year position will be on an individual contract. This classified administrator position will be placed on Range 11 of the Administrator Salary Schedule. Step placement is based on experience. Initial salary step placement for new employees is customarily at step 1, 2, or 3 ($9,866.00 / $10,014.00 / $10,164.00 per month) of this 20-step salary range. All administrators are on an employment contract and exempt from overtime and compensatory time accumulation.
Probationary period for new Classified employees is six months. Work year is 12 calendar months. The normal workweek for this position is 40 hours. Paid holiday, discretionary, and sick time are provided. Ten vacation days accrue during the first year of employment. A regular work schedule will be assigned, with the ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule as needed with supervisor approval.
The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full-time Project Director, Center of Excellence (COE) in the Workforce and Economic Advancement Division.

“BIG PICTURE” RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Workforce and Economic Advancement, the Director will oversee and provide strategic direction to the implementation of the Regional Center of Excellence (COE) activities. The COE is a statewide initiative to provide labor market research to regional colleges. The Director will be responsible for conducting comprehensive gap analysis studies on emerging and priority sectors and occupations in the region, manage workforce research studies, and provide technical assistance to the regional consortium. Additionally, the COE Director will develop industry partnerships, oversee grant compliance and budgets, manage contracts, and generate reports and proposals. The director will also collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure the success of COE activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience to conduct research within career technical education, and/or economic workforce development including prior experience interfacing with both public and private sector employees and organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Evidence of effective leadership at the community college and/or four-year college/university level.
Previous experience coordinating grants, budgets, and grant deliverables.
Physical Characteristics:
Position requires sitting and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods of time; reaching, bending, and stooping; frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; hearing to understand speech at normal levels, speaking to communicate and provide information to others; vision to read printed material and computer monitor. Travel from site-to-site to include other college districts as needed. In the event of an emergency, employees will be relied upon to serve as emergency service workers.

Conditions of Employment:
12-month position. Part of the assignment may be evening and/or weekends, both on and off campus locations.
Successful completion of background fingerprint clearance, pre-employment physical examination (disabilities not related to the physical job will not affect the application process) and TB screening.
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and signing of loyalty oath per government codes 3100-3109.
Meeting applicable eligibility requirements under CalPERS or CalSTRS if you are a current or former member.
Board of Trustees approval.
