The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full-time Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Workforce & Economic Advancement

Under the direction of the Chancellor, the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President is a District leader in building bridges between the College, the business community, and its faculty and staff resulting in regional economic development and the college’s advancement in the business community. This position develops, implements and coordinates an overall vision of the District’s customized training and programs designed to meet the workforce training and business assistance needs of business and industry in the region.

This leadership position is responsible for expanding partnerships with business, industry, government, education and community-based partners at the federal and state level and provides leadership and administrative supervision of the District’s workforce and economic advancement programs including: the Employee Training Institute (ETI), the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT), the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Advanced Technology Center (ATC).


(Requirements 1 and 2 must be met in order to qualify for the position):

Education (Requirement #1):

Possession of an MBA or related master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Doctorate or Ph.D. in educational leadership preferred. (See our website for evaluation requirements for units and degrees earned at foreign institutions).

Experience (Requirement #2):

A minimum of five (5) years of recent direct experience in a position related to providing training or consulting services to business and/or industry in the area of workforce or economic development AND

A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment.
