The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking two (2) full-time Student Services Specialist II (EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, RISE) in the Student Services division. The ideal candidate will share our college’s commitment to educating the more than 32,000 racially and socioeconomically diverse students we enroll each year.  Currently, our student body is approximately 45.4 percent Latinx/Hispanic, 32.2 percent White, 6.3 percent Asian, 5.5 percent African-American, 4.5 percent Pacific Islander, 2 percent multi-ethnic, and less than 1 percent Native American. Under the direction of the Director of EOPS, CARE, and CalWORKs, the Student Services Specialist II (EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, RISE) performs a variety of specialized duties in providing support to EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, and RISE students; performs other related duties as may be assigned.

The Student Services Specialist II performs student reception and general advisement, specialized clerical and office support functions. Duties include but are not limited to: student communication, developing correspondence, record keeping, monitoring student applications, maintaining student records, problem solving, and performing specific related student service projects. Performs other duties as assigned.



Two (2) years full-time equivalent experience working in a community college, university, K-12 school, or government-regulated agency involving customer service or general clerical duties to assist the public, OR four (4) years full-time equivalent experience in another organization involving customer service or general clerical duties to assist the public. Must be proficient in MS Office Suite software applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, FrontPage, Publisher and Outlook).


Education equivalent to an Associate’s degree (60 semester units) from an accredited college or university is required. Two (2) years of direct experience in addition to that identified above may be substituted for each year (30 semester units) of college.
